This is a small independent guide to the cenotes around Tulum, in Quintana Roo, Mexico, and to the places a visitor is likely to combine with them: the Tulum ruins, Cobá, Sian Ka’an and the coast. It is written and maintained by one person, independently.

It is not an official website. The cenotes are run by ejidos (communal landholding groups) and private owners, and this site has no connection to any of them. It is also independent of INAH, which manages Mexico’s archaeological zones, CONANP, which manages its protected natural areas, the company that collects the Parque del Jaguar fee, and any tourism board. Nobody pays to appear here.

How we decide what goes on the site

Every page starts from sources we can name: Mexico’s federal gazette (the Diario Oficial de la Federación) for park and ruins fees, cave survey groups such as CINDAQ for cave lengths, published research for the archaeology, OpenStreetMap for locations, and dated reports in regional newspapers. Where sources disagree, and around the cenotes they often do (on depths, prices and opening hours), we say so and tell you which figure we used.

No cenote we cover publishes an official price list. Prices are posted on a board at the gate and change without notice. So cenote prices on this site are the figures reported by dated 2026 guides, labelled as such, and the gate board is the final word.

Driving times come from a routing engine and run short, especially on dirt access roads, so allow extra.

Tours, hotels and how we make money

Tours on this site link to GetYourGuide. If you book through one of those links we earn a small commission, and the price you pay is the same as it would be otherwise. Some pages that link to hotels may also earn a commission through Stay22. We do not run the tours, we are not GetYourGuide, and we do not own or manage any hotel. The full explanation is on our affiliate disclosure page.

Tell us when we are wrong

A cenote raises its price, changes its hours or closes for repairs. If you find something out of date or plainly wrong on this site, email info@tulumcenote.com with the page and what you saw. Corrections are welcome; we would rather hear it from you than leave it standing.
